Statement on Trabzon from Hamza Yerlikaya: Like the source of boxing

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hamza Yerlikaya closely followed the U15 European Boxing Championship held in Trabzon and made evaluations regarding the city's sports culture, the opportunities provided to young athletes, and future targets.

As the final matches continued at the U15 European Boxing Championship hosted by Trabzon, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hamza Yerlikaya followed the organization and drew attention to Trabzon's sports infrastructure. Pointing out that Trabzon's intense interest and weight in boxing were effective in the decision to award the organization to this city last year, Yerlikaya emphasized that the city is an important center in the boxing branch. He also touched upon the importance of encouraging children into sports in the fight against addiction and stated that citizens should show more interest in the competitions.

Reminding that there are role model athletes such as Busenaz Sürmeneli and Çakıroğlu in the championship, Yerlikaya announced that salary support is provided to 8,000 athletes aged over 10 and under 15 across Turkey. Drawing attention to the excitement in the eyes of the young athletes competing in Trabzon, the Deputy Minister noted that names like Ümmügülsüm have the potential to win gold medals in 2032 or 2036.
