Six new solution groups and a performance indicator system have been announced in Vietnam to strengthen ties between research institutes, universities, and the business sector.
At a national conference held to enhance cooperation between research institutes, universities, and the business sector in Vietnam, existing bottlenecks were addressed and six key solution groups were announced.
At the National Conference on Strengthening Links between Research Institutes, Universities, and Businesses in Science and Technology Research and Development, held on October 23, 2026, the gap between technology supply and market demand was discussed. In a report presented by Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh, it was stated that only 12.5 percent of national-level projects were managed by enterprises during the 2021-2025 period, and that business R&D spending remained at 0.3 percent of GDP.
Six solution groups have been identified to address the supply-demand imbalance in the technology market and to promote commercialization. In this context, mechanisms supporting enterprises are being improved, along with state budget co-financing, ecosystem development, projects based on practical problems, clarification of property rights, and a performance measurement system consisting of 10 indicators. The data released is aimed to be published in the Vietnam Science, Technology and Innovation White Paper starting from 2028.
