Summer season increase in travel health insurance reached 58 percent

The Insurance Association of Türkiye (TSB) announced travel health insurance data for the summer season covering June, July, and August 2026. Accordingly, the number of insured individuals under policies issued during this period reached 1.9 million, an increase of approximately 58 percent compared to the same period last year.

Within the summer season, the highest number of insured individuals on a monthly basis was reached in July with 690 thousand people. In June, 612 thousand people, and in August, 609 thousand people purchased travel health insurance. The total number of insured individuals in the first eight months of the year increased by 40 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 4.1 million.

TÜİK data shows that the number of citizens visiting abroad in the first half of 2026 increased by approximately 15 percent, reaching 6.4 million. TSB stated that this increase in insurance data is directly linked to the rise in international travel mobility. It was emphasized that the shared figures represent the total number of insured individuals in the policies issued in the relevant months and do not indicate the number of unique individuals.
