Teams in Australia Can Access OpenAI Models Through Amazon Bedrock
Teams in Australia can now use new OpenAI models via global cross-region inference through the Sydney and Melbourne AWS regions.
Software and technology teams working in Australia have gained the ability to access the newest OpenAI models via Amazon Bedrock.
Regional Access and Routing
Amazon Bedrock automatically routes requests made from the Sydney and Melbourne AWS regions to supported commercial AWS regions.
Thanks to this system, access to a broader capacity pool is achieved without requiring applications to manage target region routing.
OpenAI GPT-5.6 Models
Made available through the platform, the GPT-5.6 series is offered to teams in three different variations: Sol, Terra, and Luna.
All of the models can accept text and visual inputs, generate text, and support context windows of up to 1 million tokens.
Model Options and Use Cases
While the Sol model provides a suitable structure for demanding reasoning, coding, and AI agent workloads, Terra balances performance and cost.
Luna, on the other hand, provides fast and economical inference capabilities for high-volume and latency-sensitive applications.
