In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Minister of Health Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek announced that he will resign from his post as Minister of Health, which he has held for three and a half years, and from his parliamentary candidacy ahead of the elections on December 6, 2026.

A digital voting system was used for the first time in the National Unity Party's (UBP) parliamentary candidate selection and ranking elections held at the Nicosia Atatürk Sports Hall. Receiving 4,710 votes in the election, Dinçyürek stated that he respected the results, but had decided to withdraw from his parliamentary candidacy and would submit his resignation from the Ministry of Health to the Prime Minister. He expressed that despite withdrawing from candidacy, he would continue to support his party.

On the other hand, the digital voting system used in the election sparked debates within the party, and a total of 17 separate objections were lodged against the results. While Election Board President Hüseyin Paşa announced that the data had been delivered to the High Election Council (YSK), it was decided that the ballot boxes would be recounted under police supervision following overnight discussions. Meanwhile, Democrat Party General Secretary Serhat Akpınar called for the digital system to be subjected to an independent audit. It is not yet known whether Dinçyürek has officially submitted his resignation.
