Trump approval hits record low in new survey

Published less than two weeks before the congressional elections, the Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll revealed that US President Trump's approval rating fell to 33 percent. This rate represents a 4-point drop compared to the previous poll in July and an 8-point decrease compared to the same period last year, marking the lowest level seen since his first term. While 66 percent of those surveyed stated they disapproved of his job performance, 52 percent of this group expressed definite dissatisfaction with his decisions.

In the poll conducted in early October with 2,545 participants, likely voters showed national-level support of 52 percent for Democrats and 44 percent for Republicans. Among registered voters, the proportion supporting Democrats was 50 percent, while the proportion supporting Republicans was 42 percent.

Amid rising concerns over the cost of living, 48 percent of voters stated that they were in a worse economic situation since Trump's return to the White House. This rate became the highest level recorded by the polling partners since 1986. Three-quarters of the poll participants evaluated the economy as bad or very bad overall, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defended the administration's successes in economic policies and stated that they would take responsibility for the economy.
