Use of Artificial Intelligence and Drones Becoming Widespread in First Responder Operations
A new study reveals that public safety personnel's reliance on artificial intelligence, drones, and robotic technologies is growing rapidly.
A new study sponsored by Verizon Frontline reveals a significant increase in the adoption rate of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, drones, and robotics in first responder operations.
The place of technology in public safety
Conducted with the participation of over a thousand first responder personnel, the research shows that advanced tools are transforming into indispensable assets for public safety professionals.
Use of communication tools and mobile devices
While approximately ninety percent of survey participants use smartphones on a daily basis, nearly three-quarters of the participants rely on radios and laptops.
Interest in drones and robotic systems
Approximately one-quarter of participants identified drones and robots as a top priority, recording a ten percent increase compared to last year.
Rapid increase in artificial intelligence usage
While nearly seventy percent of personnel stated that they use artificial intelligence in some way, daily artificial intelligence usage nearly tripled over the past year, exceeding thirty-five percent.
Barriers to the adoption process and budget
Despite great enthusiasm, agencies face certain obstacles; sixty-one percent of participants pointed to financial hesitations as the greatest challenge.
