Hosted by Vietnam in Da Nang, COSTI-90 aims to strengthen joint research and the regional innovation ecosystem within the framework of the APASTI 2026-2035 plan.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology is coming together to strengthen joint research within the framework of the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation 2026-2035 and to host the 90th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation held in Da Nang.
Purpose and Scope of the Meeting
While implementing the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation 2026-2035, Vietnam aims to strengthen joint research, share infrastructure, and connect institutions in the region with businesses.
The event brings together approximately 250 delegates representing organizations, the secretariat, partners, experts, and scientists from ASEAN countries.
COSTI-90 and the New Structure
COSTI operates as ASEAN's high-level official cooperation mechanism in the field of science, technology, and innovation.
The meeting marks the first session where the new specialized structure, reduced from nine sub-committees to five in order to increase coordination efficiency, has been adopted.
APASTI 2026-2035 Goals
This year's meeting takes place during the initial phase of the Action Plan and creates an opportunity to concretize cooperation priorities for the countries.
Delegates are reviewing progress in implementing the plan, evaluating new tasks, and assessing cooperation with international organizations.
Highlighted Events and Awards
One of the conference's highlighted events was planned as the final round and award ceremony of the ASEAN-US Science Prize for Women, themed around artificial intelligence.
Additionally, an international workshop bringing together female scientists and encouraging participation in STEM fields is planned to be held.
