While more than 74,000 Palestinians lost their lives in the attacks, numerous residential areas in Gaza, home to approximately 2.4 million people, suffered heavy damage. Hospitals, schools, universities, roads, and water and sewage infrastructure in the region were also affected by this situation.

Angelina Jolie, the former United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, brought the situation to light by comparing Google Maps images of Gaza from the 2022-2023 period with current images. Jolie emphasized that the destruction is clearly visible even on maps, stating that neighborhoods have collapsed.
UN Data and Damage Rate
Referring to United Nations data in her post, Jolie stated that as of June 16, 2026, 82 percent of structures in Gaza have been damaged. It was reported that approximately one-third of the structures were completely destroyed.
Shelter and Winter Conditions
Drawing attention to the upcoming winter season, Jolie stated that approximately 1.98 million people are waiting for shelter support and their basic needs to be met. This figure corresponds to 94 percent of Gaza's population.
Call for Urgent Aid and Supplies
Stating that there are restrictions and delays in the delivery of aid supplies, Jolie emphasized that hospitals need medical supplies and people need shelter.
