The Turkish Statistical Institute and the Inflation Research Group shared the September inflation data; according to official figures, annual inflation dropped below 30 percent after 57 months.

The Turkish Statistical Institute announced September monthly inflation as 1.84 percent and annual inflation as 29.73 percent. ENAG, consisting of academics, calculated the monthly inflation for the same period as 2.10 percent and annual inflation as 46.61 percent.

Statements by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that, in light of official data, annual inflation fell below 30 percent after 57 months. Şimşek expressed that the disinflation process has spread across the board, excluding transportation.

Price Changes in Expenditure Groups

In September, the highest price increase was recorded in the education group with 14.19 percent. Education was followed by clothing and footwear with 3.98 percent, and insurance and financial services with 3.40 percent, while food and non-alcoholic beverages were the only main group that declined.
