2026 State of Business Report Published
A new report published by Old National Bank reveals the approaches of commercial clients regarding artificial intelligence, human resources, investments, and cybersecurity.
Old National Bank has shared the 2026 State of Business Report with the public, detailing commercial client trends in artificial intelligence, talent acquisition, investments, and cybersecurity.
Trends in Artificial Intelligence Usage
Despite being one of the most significant market drivers, nearly half of business leaders state that their companies are not engaged with artificial intelligence.
Approximately twenty-five percent of the executives surveyed are in the early adoption phase, while those reaching full-scale enterprise integration stand at just eight percent.
Human Resources and Talent Investments
The shortage of qualified candidates is cited by two-thirds of leaders as the top corporate challenge, and the process of finding and retaining the right talent remains a priority.
Roughly fifty-five percent of businesses continue to invest in their workforce, with this area standing out as the largest capital expenditure item of the year.
Capital Expenditures and Financial Outlook
About forty-two percent of participants expect an increase in capital expenditures, marking the highest level recorded since 2022.
At the same time, an upward momentum has also been observed in overall credit usage, expected revenues, and profitability rates.
Cybersecurity and the Manufacturing Sector
Following declines experienced last year, a leveling off and a potential period of stabilization in cybersecurity investment levels are noteworthy.
Compared to other sectors, manufacturing sector leaders exhibited higher optimism, stronger alignment with artificial intelligence goals, and advanced cybersecurity protocols.
