AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik touched upon the new constitution efforts during a press conference he held following the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Çelik emphasized that making a new constitution whose direct subject is the nation is a major duty for politics.

MYK Meeting and Agenda Topics

At the Central Executive Board meeting held at the AK Party Headquarters, parliamentary works, planning for the upcoming period, and decisions aimed at strengthening the infrastructure of organizations were discussed.

September 12 Coup and Constitutional Emphasis

Touching upon the anniversary of the September 12 coup during the meeting, it was stated that it cannot be said that the wounds opened by coups in political and social life have been completely closed, and that these processes were externally sourced levers targeting Turkey's democracy.

It was noted that the current situation is not just a matter of renewing constitutional articles, but that a new constitution whose direct subject is the nation must be made and the atmosphere of tutelage must be eliminated.

Regional Developments and Foreign Policy

While UAV attacks carried out from Iraqi territory against the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia were condemned, it was expressed that the prudent behavior of Saudi authorities in order not to escalate tension is valuable.

While the statement by the Prime Minister of Iraq that non-state armed groups will be integrated under government authority was found important, the protection of sovereignty against ambitions desiring the weakening of neighboring countries was underlined.

Cyprus and Eastern Mediterranean Issue

It was reported that Turkey will continue to struggle on every platform to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with the title of motherland and guarantor country.

Criticizing the United States' extension of the arms embargo on the Greek Cypriot Administration, it was emphasized that no message intended to be given through provocative approaches in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean will be accepted.

Artificial Intelligence and Future Risks

Drawing attention to artificial intelligence technologies in the statement, it was also conveyed that warnings that artificial intelligence agents harboring the risk of getting out of human control could threaten humanity are increasing and correct rules must be determined.
