Artificial Intelligence and Expert-Driven Dental Implant Planning Investigated
A retrospective observational study evaluated the agreement between an AI-supported implant planning system and expert consensus.
A new retrospective observational study examining the agreement between an AI-based implant planning system and expert consensus has been published.
Scope of the Research
Cone-beam computed tomography images obtained from posterior edentulous regions of adult patients were examined.
Agreement Rates
Categorical agreement rates were determined as 86 percent for implant length, 90 percent for diameter, 84 percent for position, and 88 percent for angulation.
Statistical Findings
Intraclass correlation coefficient values were recorded at high levels for length, diameter, position, and angulation parameters.
Future Studies
It was stated that the agreement provided by expert planning does not imply surgical accuracy and that prospective validations are required for postoperative positions.
