UNESCO and the École normale supérieure have announced a new call for papers focused on AI ethics for researchers who have completed their doctoral degrees within the past five years. This initiative aims to strengthen the links between academic research, public policies, and practical applications.
Candidates are required to submit their research proposals no later than October 30, 2026. Selected applicants will be notified on November 15, 2026.
Research Topics and Scope
Applications may cover a wide range of thematic areas such as governance, fairness, transparency, human rights, climate action, gender equality, and frontier technologies. Studies can be prepared using theoretical, empirical, or interdisciplinary approaches.
Submission and Abstract Guidelines
Applicants are expected to submit an extended abstract ranging between 800 and 1,000 words, excluding references. The text must be prepared in English and in Word or PDF format.
Evaluation and Event in Paris
Applications will be evaluated by jury members and laureates of the UNESCO Avicenna Prize. Accepted authors will have the opportunity to present their research at a one-day academic event to be held in Paris on December 10, 2026.
Publication and Dissemination Opportunities
Following the event, UNESCO and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Society will publish a proceedings volume containing the contributions and discussions presented. Furthermore, the works of selected authors will be disseminated to a wide audience on the CIANum platform.
