Community Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Data Centers Held in Flint

Purpose of the Community Forum
Led by Sherrod Pigee, founder of AI Data Center Education, the event took place following the 12-month moratorium decision on data center projects in Flint in June.
During the session, local residents, business owners, educators, students, and local administrators were informed about artificial intelligence infrastructures.
Privacy Risks and Economic Opportunities
In his speech, Dr. Terrance E. Dillard explained to participants how data centers predict user behavior and discussed potential privacy risks.
Ida Byrd Hill, CEO of Automation Workz, emphasized the economic opportunities and potential areas of development that technology adoption can provide.
Regulatory Framework and Call for Transparency
Rafael Turner, senior community relations manager for Consumers Energy Company, explained the regulatory framework in the state of Michigan and protections provided to residential customers.
City Councilwoman Candice Mushatt, who played an active role during the moratorium process, called for transparency, detailed studies, and accountability, suggesting a technical tour of an operational data center.
