While evaluating developments in Turkey's tourism sector in 2026, it was stated that despite the decline in the number of tourists, the increase in spending in the luxury segment played a balancing role. Industry representatives drew attention to the importance of per capita spending power in hospitality.
Balance and Spending in Tourism
It was stated that there was a 3% drop in the number of tourists coming to Turkey compared to last year, but daily per capita spending in the luxury segment exceeded 950 euros. It was noted that these two developments balanced each other out.
Volatile Course of the Year
It was stated that 2026 was volatile for the hotel industry, with January starting very well, but a decline in visitor numbers was observed in February due to the crisis in the Gulf.
Changing Tourist Profile
It was conveyed that ongoing developments changed the tourist profile, and while there was a drop in the number of guests coming from the Middle East, significant activity was observed in the Asian market and particularly among tourists coming from China.
Bodrum Project and Investments
Stating that Astay Group's confidence in Turkey's tourism sector supports investments, it was expressed that in addition to the hotels in Istanbul, the new Four Seasons project in Bodrum is planned to open its doors in the near future.
Michelin Key Success
Recalling that Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet is the first and only hotel in Turkey to receive a Michelin Key, it was emphasized that this award was given for the sum of architectural design, service quality, and sustainability elements.
Artificial Intelligence and Food Waste
Stating that the highest cost items in the service sector are personnel, energy, and food and beverage costs, it was announced that the amount of food wasted decreased by 40% thanks to artificial intelligence integration.
