Domestic Sexed Semen Technology Developed for Herd Planning in Livestock
Supported by the TÜME Foundation, the Sortiva team showcased their project aimed at separating semen by gender using domestic resources at TEKNOFEST held at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport.
At TEKNOFEST held at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport, a domestic semen separation technology was introduced to enable livestock enterprises to perform herd planning according to their production goals.
Domestic Project Introduced at TEKNOFEST
Domestic technology studies met with visitors at the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival held at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the T3 Foundation.
Within the scope of the festival, the Sortiva team, supported by the TÜME Foundation, introduced their innovative project aimed at reducing foreign dependency in the livestock sector.
New Era Target in Herd Management
The technology developed by the Sortiva team aims to directly contribute to livestock enterprises being able to plan herds in accordance with their production objectives.
This method aims to enable dairy farming enterprises to increase the number of female calves and beef production farms to obtain high-yielding male calves.
Laboratory Process and Dispatch to the Field
Team member and biomedical engineer Sevim Deniz Yaşar stated that sperms are sorted according to their genders through processes carried out in a laboratory environment.
Prepared to yield female or male offspring according to needs, the sperms are packaged and sent to the field to be made available for use by veterinarians.
Turkey's Targets in This Field
Efforts are resolutely continued to develop and spread this technology—currently used in only 4-5 countries worldwide—using domestic resources in Turkey as well.
