China's data industry reached 6.78 trillion yuan in 2025, while the 2026 China International Big Data Industry Expo held in Guiyang focused on artificial intelligence and data integration.

Expo Kicking Off in Guiyang

The 2026 China International Big Data Industry Expo, held in the city of Guiyang in southwest China's Guizhou province, ran from Friday to Sunday.

Held under the theme "Token: A New Path for the Value of Data Elements," the event saw participation from 372 companies and over 16,000 registered guests.

Economic Scale

China's data industry size reached 6.78 trillion yuan, or approximately $1 trillion, as of 2025.

National Data Administration head Liu Liehong and World Data Organization secretary-general Yang Jie drew attention to the importance of high-quality datasets for large models and data authenticity.

Transformation in Traditional Sectors

It was demonstrated that traditional sectors such as hydroelectric, wind, and solar energy have adopted intelligent dispatch systems supported by AI forecasting models.

These digital systems and unified infrastructures aim to maintain the stability of energy grids.

New Business Models and International Cooperation

The interaction of data and artificial intelligence is triggering new business models, such as embodied intelligence data collection, where human movements are recorded to train robots.

Meanwhile, international projects, such as agricultural platforms connecting producers in Africa with Chinese buyers, were also showcased within the scope of the expo.
