HackerRank Launches AI-Powered Interview Assistant Chakra
HackerRank has rolled out Chakra, a new AI agent designed to evaluate candidates' critical thinking and artificial intelligence skills, making it available to customers.
Software developer hiring platform HackerRank has officially released Chakra for general availability, a new AI agent that observes candidate workflows and assesses coding skills alongside artificial intelligence competencies.
General Features of the Chakra System
Following a six-month beta period, Chakra has been made available to customers after conducting more than 500,000 interviews during its testing phase.
The system has been tested by companies such as Snowflake, Snorkel, and Capgemini, and was also evaluated internally by HackerRank.
AI Fluency and Evaluation
With its new AI agent, HackerRank aims to assess hard-to-measure signals such as critical thinking, judgment, and artificial intelligence fluency.
The process examines how candidates formulate problems with AI, evaluate outputs, and reach solutions.
Changes in the Interview Process
The Chakra interview is designed to resemble real-world work rather than being a traditional coding test.
Candidates complete the interview process by working on a task that includes a real code repository with the help of an AI assistant.
Consolidation of Hiring Stages
The new system offers the ability to consolidate previously separate interview stages under a single roof.
Providing candidates with access to artificial intelligence during the interview reduces the temptation to use unauthorized external tools and lowers suspicious activity flags.
Final Decision and the Human Factor
Chakra is designed to score candidates rather than make the final hiring decision, with the ultimate choice remaining with human managers.
While the artificial intelligence system aims to consistently apply structured criteria, human interviewers can communicate directly with candidates.
Regulations and Audit Processes
The deep involvement of artificial intelligence in hiring processes brings topics such as data privacy and algorithmic bias to the forefront.
Companies comply with regulations such as ensuring hiring tools undergo independent bias audits and informing candidates.
