Following the access block decision that shut down his account from Turkey, Erdal Sağlam announced his new address.
The access block decision targeting economy writer Erdal Sağlam's X account was implemented, shutting down the account from access within Turkey. Sağlam announced that he would reach his followers via his newly opened X address.
Closure of the Account and New Address
Economy writer Erdal Sağlam’s X account was blocked from access in Turkey with the implementation of the access restriction decision taken regarding it. Following the account being made invisible from Turkey, Sağlam opened a new account and addressed his followers via his new address.
In his first post from his new X account, Sağlam stated his former username and said, "Hello! My old account @erdalsaglama has been blocked from access in Turkey. This is my new account." No detailed statement has been made yet regarding which official grounds and scope of decision the access restriction was based upon.
Fund Embezzlement and Analyses
Erdal Sağlam had recently drawn attention with his analyses and reports regarding the fund scandal that shook the markets. Sağlam had created a wide resonance in the public by disclosing that a fund within the scope of the investigation was held by 12 investors before being opened to TEFAS and gained approximately 10,000 percent value during this process.
Digital Blackout and Expanding Blocks
On the other hand, access blocks, which have been increasing recently, are expanding their scope. Numerous X accounts, including journalists, academics, and figures working in the economy and finance fields, are being targeted on the grounds of "protection of national security and public order." Last night, at least 88 more accounts were blocked from access from Turkey, and the accounts were made invisible within the country's borders by the X platform. Among the blocked addresses was also the official X account of the Freedom of Expression Association, which reports censorship decisions and access blocks on the internet.
