AI company Knowtex has announced the establishment of a new frontier laboratory to develop and evaluate clinical AI tools in terms of accuracy, auditability, and clinician trust.

AI Specialized in Healthcare

AI company Knowtex was specifically designed to handle coding, staging, and history tracking in sensitive fields like oncology, which general-purpose systems fail to meet.

According to company executives, the Knowtex platform serves more than 300 organizations and over 200 specialties nationwide.

Founding Process and Fieldwork

Founded by AI and linguistics experts from Stanford University, the company served as a medical scribe during its 2022 inception phase.

The founders maintained this hands-on approach to the present day by working in the field alongside clinicians by day and developing the product by night.

KnowBench and Evaluation Science

Knowtex features embedded evaluators that judge clinical AI the way a doctor would, along with anti-hallucination guardrails.

An evaluation benchmark named KnowBench measures a 97.99% reduction in administrative effort for clinicians, and the company is making its entire methodology public.

Department of Veterans Affairs Contract

Last October, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs awarded Knowtex a $15 million cloud-based tools contract to transcribe clinical encounters and generate notes.

The system is currently in active use by over 7,000 clinicians across 79 department facilities, achieving a high adoption rate.

Clinician Savings and Patient Experience

Department clinicians saved more than 450,000 hours of documentation time, while a review in Kansas City showed all participants wanted to continue using the technology.

During the same evaluation period, patient experience scores at the respective facility rose to 95.8%.
