Anthropic says its model Claude is helping to build the next version of itself

AI laboratory Anthropic has announced that the Claude model leads 26% of the company's model research and development activities and is helping build its own new version.

Claude's Role in the R&D Process

According to the announcement by Anthropic, the Claude model can complete a large portion of a task end-to-end starting from a high-level command, leading 26% of the company's model research and development efforts.

Human Supervision and Collaboration

The model does not yet operate completely autonomously and continues to remain under human supervision. The company states that approximately 90% of research is conducted in collaboration with Claude.

Call for Transparency and Safety

The developments were shared with the public at a time when some AI leaders, notably Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, have called for a slowdown in the development of the technology due to safety concerns.

Risk of Self-Recursive Development

Anthropic pointed out that models accelerating their own development could make it harder for humans to understand or control them, emphasizing the importance of sharing such metrics.
