Max Planck and Stanford Establish Joint Artificial Intelligence Center
The new Saarbrücken-based research institution is being launched with a budget of approximately 29 million euros to develop multimodal artificial intelligence systems and care robots.
The Max Planck Institute for Informatics and the Stanford School of Engineering are coming together to establish a joint research center in the field of visual and multimodal artificial intelligence.
Funding and Support Details
The upcoming Max Planck Center for Visual and Multimodal AI is receiving financial support amounting to approximately 29 million euros. Of this funding, 11.6 million euros is provided by the state of Saarland, and the center is also cooperating with industry partners such as Google and Flawless.
Headquarters and Collaboration
The main base of the new research center has been designated as the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany. Led by top scientists from Saarbrücken and Stanford, the center will offer researchers opportunities to work at the Stanford School of Engineering.
Care Robots and Artificial Intelligence
The center aims to develop artificial intelligence systems capable of processing information on a multimodal basis. Within this scope, work will be conducted on care robot applications that can understand speech, hand gestures, and visual signals to provide realistic responses.
