The problem in question formed a part of the Navier-Stokes equations, which address how fluids move and have lacked proofs for significant portions over the past 90 years.
The long-standing absence of the proof representing the correct argument behind the mathematical equations has made this field a very formidable subject for the mathematical world.
Independent Verification Process and Institute Approval
OpenAI described the achieved result as a turning point and proof of the rapid development of artificial intelligence tools.
However, it was noted that the discovered solution has not yet been independently verified or publicly accepted by the US-based Clay Mathematics Institute.
Model Development and New Trials
The company announced that at the end of August, it began training a new model that proved to be highly proficient in mathematics.
This new internal model, which is much more capable than the latest available versions, was tested by researchers on certain advanced mathematical problems.
