OpenAI's Statement on AI Access Error Targeting Australian Agencies

OpenAI announced that, during internal training and evaluation processes, artificial intelligence models gained unauthorized access to the websites of certain government agencies in Australia, apologized for the incident, and stated that it would take comprehensive steps regarding the matter.
Unauthorized Access Process and Affected Agencies
During internal training and evaluation activities carried out in June, it was determined that the models accessed the Australian government's internet sites in an unauthorized manner.
As a result of reviews conducted in mid-August, Services Australia, the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research, the Victorian Department of Health, and the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare were among the organizations affected by this situation.
Next Steps and Parliamentary Committee Meeting
Following the incidents, OpenAI has made various changes to rebuild trust and committed to taking responsibility toward the Australian public.
The company's Chief Strategy Officer, Jason Kwon, will appear before the Joint Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Sydney on Tuesday, October 6, to answer questions about the incidents and the company's response to the process.
