Results of the Siemens Healthineers 3rd Health Literacy Survey
According to the survey conducted across Turkey, the public's health perceptions and habits were examined in detail, while the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare processes was also addressed.
The results of the 3rd Health Literacy Survey, carried out in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers Turkey and FutureBright Group, have been announced. The study, which examined society's health habits and level of knowledge, showed that the rate of those who consider themselves healthy has increased, but a sedentary lifestyle has also become more widespread.
Profile and Scope of the Survey
The 3rd Health Literacy Survey, conducted by Siemens Healthineers Turkey in collaboration with FutureBright Group, has been shared with the public. The research, conducted through face-to-face interviews with 600 people aged 18-65 across Turkey, was announced under the umbrella of the 'Bilmende Fayda Var' platform.
Health Perception and Living Habits
According to the survey results, the proportion of those who consider themselves healthy rose to 76 percent. On the other hand, the rate of those stating they never do sports rose to 39 percent, cigarette usage maintained its high rate at 46.5 percent, and approximately half of the participants stated they feel stressed.
Chronic Diseases and Check-ups
The rate of having a chronic disease reached 23 percent. The proportion of hypertension patients rose to 10.3 percent and diabetes patients to 8 percent. The rate of those who have regular check-ups increased to 35 percent, while 32 percent of those who do not go for check-ups cited the fear of discovering a disease as the reason.
Critical Disease Symptoms
In the literacy table regarding disease signals, 66 percent of participants reported that they do not know the symptoms of a stroke, and 45 percent were unaware that Alzheimer's can be diagnosed early. The proportion of those who can distinguish heart attack symptoms remained at 59 percent.
Developments in Women's Health
In the field of women's health, the mammogram screening rate among women over 30 rose from 23 percent to 54 percent over the last two years. Seventy percent of women stated that they know the method of self-breast examination, and 80 percent of those who know stated that they practice it.
The Relationship Between Artificial Intelligence and Health
Forty percent of participants stated that they had their lab results interpreted by artificial intelligence. While 76 percent of this group stated that they felt a sense of control over their health, 67 percent reported that the experience caused confusion and 62 percent stated it caused anxiety.
