US President Donald Trump argued that the phrase artificial intelligence is inadequate and expressed on social media that the technology should be known by the name 'Super Intelligence'. This new naming effort came to the agenda following events attended by Chinese leader Xi Jinping and tech executives.

Name Change in International Talks

Trump also brought up the new name during high-level talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. However, Xi Jinping's interpreters continued to use the traditional term in Chinese during their official remarks.

Use of the New Term Within the Administration

White House science adviser Michael Kratsios adopted the new naming by using this concept at a United Nations Security Council meeting. The State Department also instructed that this phrase be used in diplomatic correspondence.

History in the Academic World

Academics and philosophers have been using the term 'superintelligence' since the 1990s to describe advanced machines that do not yet exist. This concept was developed to refer to machines that will surpass the human mind in every field.
