Weekly Market Close: Stock Market and Gold Declined, Dollar Rose
According to weekly data, the BIST 100 index and gram gold lost value, while movement in exchange rates drew attention.
While the BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul closed the week with a decline, gold prices dropped in the markets, and the dollar recorded an increase.
Weekly Course of the BIST 100 Index
Stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul experienced an average value loss of 2.90 percent on a weekly basis.
The BIST 100 index followed a volatile course throughout the week, seeing a low of 12,840.20 points and a high of 13,370.03 points.
Decline in Gold Prices
The gram selling price of 24-carat bullion gold traded in the Grand Bazaar decreased by 1.61 percent this week to 6,716 liras.
While the selling price of Republican gold dropped by 1.33 percent to 43,860 liras, quarter gold fell to 11,015 liras.
Changes in Foreign Exchange Markets
In the foreign exchange market, the dollar showed an increase of 0.38 percent on a weekly basis, rising to 48.9660 liras.
Euro, on the other hand, experienced a 0.18 percent decrease in the same period, declining to the level of 55.8560 liras.
Investment and Pension Funds
While investment funds generally lost 2.36 percent in value this week, pension funds also declined by 0.33 percent.
In the investment funds category, Money Market Funds provided the highest return with a rate of 0.66 percent.
