Call for papers: Advancing research on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence

UNESCO and the AI and Society Institute at the École normale supérieure in Paris have launched a joint call for papers for recent PhD graduates to present their research in the field of AI ethics.

Objective of the Call for Papers

This newly launched initiative aims to encourage new research based on UNESCO's 2021 Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.

The program also aims to strengthen interdisciplinary exchange and reinforce the links between academic studies and public policies.

Application Requirements

Recent PhD graduates who received their degree no more than five years ago are eligible to apply to the call.

Applications, which must be prepared in English, are required to include an extended abstract ranging between 800 and 1,000 words.

Important Dates and Event

The authors of selected proposals will have the opportunity to present their research at a one-day academic event hosted by ENS in Paris on December 10, 2026.

Successful candidates will be notified of the evaluation results by November 15, 2026, and selected individuals will be required to submit their full papers by December 1, 2026.

Support and Publication Opportunities

It is stated that travel support will be provided to one of the selected authors who will participate in the event in Paris.

Additionally, the selected papers have the potential to be published on the Conseil de l'intelligence artificielle et du numérique Tribune platform.
