University of Delaware Establishes AI Institute Focused on Mobility
The new National Science Foundation-backed artificial intelligence institute aims to assist clinicians and physical therapists in treating movement disorders.
Researchers at the University of Delaware have established a new nationally supported artificial intelligence institute to support personalized treatment in conditions that cause mobility limitations, such as stroke and Parkinson's disease.
Purpose of the Institute
The newly established artificial intelligence institute at the University of Delaware aims to develop technologies that can assist clinicians and physical therapists in providing personalized care.
Support for Healthcare Professionals
The National Science Foundation-backed initiative will analyze movement data and medical records to contribute to planning the most appropriate treatment processes for patients with conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, and similar disorders.
Research and Laboratory Facilities
Co-director of the institute Austin Brockmeier noted that the clinical physical therapy laboratory and the research laboratory are side by side, stating that patients can easily move between the two areas.
Broad Partnership Project Structure
Lasting for five years and boasting a $21.5 million budget, this significant initiative is being carried out under the leadership of the University of Delaware in collaboration with Delaware State University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Princeton University.
