US and China to Open Artificial Intelligence Communication Channel
Following the summit in Washington, the US and China have decided to establish a bilateral communication channel to manage potential artificial intelligence incidents.
Following the summit in Washington between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the White House announced the opening of a new bilateral communication channel on artificial intelligence safety.
Summit and Communication Channel Decision
In a statement by the White House, it was reported that the United States and China agreed to establish a bilateral communication channel for potential incidents that may occur in the field of artificial intelligence.
During the talks held by the leaders, it was emphasized that this technology must be developed and managed for positive purposes.
Trade Truce Extended
At the summit, where it was stated that no major breakthrough was achieved, it was announced that the trade truce scheduled to end in November was extended until January to allow the parties room for negotiation.
Additionally, it was conveyed that China agreed to import at least 10 million metric tons of American coal during the 2027-2028 period and that the two countries will mutually adjust tariffs on certain goods.
Future Summits and Other Topics
The two leaders are planned to meet again at the APEC summit to be held in Shenzhen in November and at the G20 meeting in Miami in December.
It was also reported that the discussions addressed the Taiwan issue as well as regional topics such as the Middle East, Ukraine, and the Korean Peninsula.
