WashU's AI Perspectives Week Extended to a Second Week
Extended due to overwhelming campus-wide interest, the event offers nearly 40 programs to discuss the interdisciplinary impacts of artificial intelligence.
WashU's AI Perspectives Week has been extended into a second week due to a high volume of proposals and intense interest, and is preparing to host nearly 40 different events addressing developments in the field of artificial intelligence.
Rationale for the Program's Expansion
A high volume of project proposals from across the university enabled the organizing team to spread the events across a second week. Nathan Jacobs, vice provost for artificial intelligence, stated that this situation reflects the wide spectrum of ideas among faculty and students.
Event Schedule and Scope
Featuring approximately 40 conferences, workshops, and panels, the series will open on September 17 with the AI and Environmental Research Symposium and will close with a local legal community session on September 30.
Key Speakers and Sessions
As part of the program, José Bowen will deliver the keynote address on preserving critical thinking, while Microsoft Chief Scientific Officer Eric Horvitz and Abridge founder Shiv Rao will also speak at the event.
An Approach Open to Diverse Perspectives
AI Perspectives Week aims to address the difficult questions surrounding artificial intelligence by welcoming not only those who embrace the technology, but also skeptics.
