Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, speaking at his party's parliamentary group meeting, argued that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's candidacy for a third time would be in Turkey's best interest, and stated that the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) must take a decision for the elections to be held in 2028.

Bahçeli stated that, considering the responsibilities Erdoğan has undertaken so far and his leadership capacity, his undertaking of this duty for one more term is important for both Turkey and the region.

Election Calendar and TBMM Decision

It was emphasized that in order for the President to be able to run again, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey must take a decision to renew the elections at an appropriate time and by ensuring maximum consensus.
