Comedian Deniz Göktaş released at first hearing
Comedian Deniz Göktaş, who was arrested over his 'Ölü Deniz' show, has been released by the court at the first hearing.
Comedian Deniz Göktaş, who was arrested as part of an investigation launched due to his stand-up show titled 'Ölü Deniz', appeared before the judge for the first time at the Istanbul 14th Criminal Court of First Instance and was released.
He Had Been Detained at the Airport
Following the publication of his stand-up show named 'Ölü Deniz' on the YouTube platform on June 24, an investigation was launched against comedian Deniz Göktaş.
Cutting short his holiday abroad and returning to Turkey, Deniz Göktaş was detained after procedures carried out at the airport and was subsequently arrested.
First Hearing Held
Comedian Deniz Göktaş, who was in prison due to the allegations against him, appeared before the judge for the first time at the Istanbul 14th Criminal Court of First Instance.
As a result of the trial held, the panel of judges decided to issue a release order for the defendant Deniz Göktaş.
He Described Cell Conditions
Touching upon the process he experienced in his defense at the court, Deniz Göktaş stated that he was kept in a cell without sunlight throughout his 88-day detention period.
Show Details and Complaints
Stating that the accusations against him were built upon four sentences he uttered in the 'Ölü Deniz' show, Göktaş shared his defense.
He stated that he performed the same show 198 times across Turkey between October 2023 and June 2026 to more than 100,000 spectators.

He stated that after the show was published on the internet, some social media accounts took his words out of context.
He conveyed that he was targeted by these accounts and an organized complaint campaign was launched via CİMER.
