Application Process Begins for the 2026 Talât Sait Halman Translation Award
Applications for the 2026 Talât Sait Halman Translation Award, presented annually by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, are now open, and the winner will be announced at the end of the year.
The application process for the 2026 Talât Sait Halman Translation Award, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, has officially begun. It was announced that a cash support of 100,000 Turkish Liras will be given to the translator of the work determined by the Selection Committee.
Award and Support Amount
Within the scope of the Talât Sait Halman Translation Award presented by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, a cash support of 100,000 Turkish Liras will be provided to the translator of the work chosen by the Selection Committee.
Selection Committee Members
This year, the Selection Committee, which will continue its work under the chairmanship of writer and translator Ayşe Sarısayın, includes editors and translators Emrah İmre and Begüm Kovulmaz, as well as faculty members and translators Lale Özcan and Ayşe Ece.
Application Deadline and Conditions
Publishing houses or translators can apply for the award. Applications must be delivered to the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 2. The application form and terms can be obtained from the institution's website.
Accepted Genres
Applications are limited to works in the genres of short stories and novels translated from their original language into Turkish and possessing an ISBN number. Publishing houses can apply with a maximum of three translated works.
Candidacy Conditions
Candidates must not have previously won the Talât Sait Halman Translation Award. It was also reported that the winner of the award will be announced at the end of the year.
History of the Award
The Talât Sait Halman Translation Award was established in 2015 in memory of Talât Sait Halman, who served as Turkey's first Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts.
