Century-Old Catafalque Covers of Tennuri Tomb Renewed in Kayseri
To protect spiritual heritage, the puside, destar, and shawls located in the tomb of Sheikh Ibrahim Tennuri Hazretlari and his sons have been newly prepared.
Holding an important place in Kayseri's spiritual and cultural memory, the puside, destar, and shawls of the catafalques belonging to Sheikh Ibrahim Tennuri Hazretlari and his sons have been renewed in accordance with traditional Turkish-Islamic arts.
Renewal Work with Traditional Arts
The covers belonging to the catafalques of Sheikh Ibrahim Tennuri Hazretlari, one of the prominent figures in Kayseri's cultural heritage, and his sons Sheikh Lütfullah Tennuri and Sheikh Ali Sultan Hazretlari, have been meticulously renewed.
This special work, bringing together the arts of calligraphy, marbled paper (ebru), and murakka, was brought to life under the leadership of Kayseri University Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa and the organization of Calligrapher Mahmut Şahin.
Preparation Process and Details of the Covers
Within the scope of the work, the destars of the three catafalques were prepared by Prof. Dr. Ebubekir İnan and his wife Sevil İnan, while the puside covers and shawls were completed by Ümran Berçin.
Great care was taken to preserve the spiritual and aesthetic integrity of the catafalque cover tradition by using Kalima-i Tawhid embroideries on the pusides.
Loyalty Ceremony Held at the Tomb
The prepared pusides and destars were laid over the catafalques with a special ceremony held at the tomb in Sheikh Mosque.
University rectors, academics, and religious officials attended the ceremony, which was held with the recitation of the Holy Quran and prayers.
