Denizli Ranks Sixth in Turkey for Museum and Archaeological Site Visitors

According to TURKSTAT data, although Denizli experienced a slight decrease in visitor numbers in 2025, it ranked sixth nationwide in museums and archaeological sites.

According to the 2025 Cultural Heritage Statistics announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, Denizli achieved the success of ranking sixth across Turkey despite a slight decrease in its museums and archaeological sites.

2025 Visitor Data

There are 3 museums and 3 archaeological sites affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Denizli, and there are no private museums in the city.

The number of visitors to museums and archaeological sites, which was 2,614,500 in 2024, fell by 4.71 percent to 2,491,271 people in 2025.

Free Admissions and Museum Pass

The number of people entering the museums in the city for free dropped from 552,187 in 2024 to 530,515 in 2025.

While free visitors accounted for 21.29 percent of the total visitor count, the number of sold Museum Passes decreased by 2.38 percent to be recorded as 375,493.

Museum Inventory and Artifact Distribution

While the number of museums in Denizli remained constant, the total number of artifacts in the museums decreased from 40,572 in 2024 to 40,504.

Coins, numbering 28,856, make up the majority of the artifacts in the 3 ministry-affiliated museums, alongside archaeological and ethnographic materials included in the inventory.

Cultural Properties and Protected Areas

The number of immovable cultural properties in Denizli increased, rising by 7.07 percent from 1,174 in 2024 to 1,257.

The number of protected areas also showed an increase of 4.75 percent, going from 379 to 397, the majority of which hold the status of archaeological sites.
