Meeting art lovers within the scope of the twenty-first edition of Contemporary Istanbul, the event aims to enable contemporary art to interact with wide audiences. Trendyol Sanat is undertaking its partnership for the fourth time.
Characteristics of the Artwork Titled Seyir
Designed by multidisciplinary artist Balkan Karışman, the digital installation titled Seyir brings the instantaneous view of the Golden Horn into the exhibition space. It was specially produced under the curation of GLOBART.
Boundaries of the Physical and Digital
The artwork treats the digital screen as a threshold where the boundaries between the physical and the digital are redefined. When viewed from a distance, it appears as an extension of the space opening up to the Golden Horn.
Interaction Process with the Audience
The artwork, which begins to transform as the viewer approaches, creates images from different times within the silhouettes. At the moment of stepping back, the landscape regains its former state and integrates again.
The Artist's Interpretation of the Work
Balkan Karışman stated that the work removes the landscape from being fixed and transforms it into a structure re-established with the presence of the viewer. It aims to turn the act of looking into a direct experience.
