The 17th Italian Cultural Center Archaeology Symposium, focusing on Italy's contributions to archaeological studies in Turkey, will be held in Denizli on October 13-14, 2026, in cooperation with Pamukkale University.

Scope and Purpose of the Symposium

Organized under the auspices of the Italian Cultural Center in Istanbul and the Italian Embassy in Ankara, the event offers Italian archaeologists working on the heritage of Turkish lands the opportunity to compare field results with their colleagues.

This year's gathering will bring together Italian archaeologists continuing their work in Turkey in Denizli with the cooperation of Pamukkale University.

Main Theme and Important Excavation Sites

The event will open its doors to participants with the theme of continuity and innovation in research around the axis of discoveries, methods, and cooperation.

Archaeologists operating in significant areas such as Arslantepe, Hierapolis, Karkamış, Kültepe, Uşaklı Höyük, Porsuk-Zeyve Höyük, Hattusha, Tripolis, and Tokalı Church will take part as speakers.

Opening Concert and Academic Sessions

The opening of the symposium will take place on the evening of October 13 with a special concert at the Ancient Theater of Hierapolis, open to everyone free of charge.

The academic sessions will be held at Pamukkale University on Wednesday, October 14, following the participation of high-level officials.
