Kahramanmaraş Hosts the Türkiye Culture Road Festival for the First Time
Kahramanmaraş, which holds the title of UNESCO City of Literature, is preparing for a culture and arts gathering with events to be held in September.
Having received the title of Turkey's first City of Literature in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Kahramanmaraş will host the Türkiye Culture Road Festival organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the first time.
Festival Dates and Scope
Within the scope of the Türkiye Culture Road Festival implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, various culture and arts events will be held in Kahramanmaraş between September 12 and 20.
It is aimed to promote the city's values in the fields of history, culture, art, and literature to wider audiences on a national scale.
Literature-Focused Special Events
Exclusively for Kahramanmaraş, and differently from other culture routes, 10 separate literature events with the participation of authors and poets will be organized throughout the festival.
Art, Gastronomy, and Workshops
Within the framework of the festival program, alongside literature activities, events related to traditional handicrafts, exhibitions, concerts, and workshops will also be implemented.
The city's rich local delicacies will also be presented to visitors at special flavor stops to be established.
Statements by Governor Ünlüer
Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer stated that, due to the city being a UNESCO City of Literature, a comprehensive program has been prepared where poetry and literature take center stage.
Ünlüer expressed that their inclusion in the Culture Road Festival, following the August Fair reorganized after the earthquake, is one of the important indicators of the city's normalization process.
Contribution to Artisans and Promotion
Mustafa Tepebaşı, a Traditional Handicrafts Artist and coppersmith from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, stated their belief that the festival will contribute both to the promotion of the city's cultural values and provide economic support to local artisans.
