Menteşe Municipality announced that it will initiate legal proceedings against the registration of the Konakaltı İskender Alper Cultural Center and 6 parcels, which hold an important place in the city's memory, to a foundation.
The Konakaltı İskender Alper Cultural Center, located in Muğla's Menteşe district and used for public activities, along with 6 surrounding parcels, has been registered in the name of the Mihrişah Valide Sultan Foundation. Following this development, Menteşe Municipality announced that they will launch a legal and administrative struggle against the decision.

In an official statement made by Menteşe Municipality, it was reported that the Konakaltı İskender Alper Cultural Center and 6 separate surrounding parcels were registered in the name of the Mihrişah Valide Sultan Foundation on September 18, 2026.
History of the Cultural Center
Built in the 19th century to accommodate merchants, the structure was later restored by Aga Khan Award-winning architect Nail Çakırhan, acquiring its present appearance.
