Minister Ersoy in Tashkent for Uzbekistan's Independence Celebrations

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy is holding meetings in the capital, Tashkent, as part of the celebrations for the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence. The visit aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism, culture, and publishing.

Tourism and Cooperation Talks

As part of his visit, Minister Ersoy met with the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Akkulov, to evaluate tourism mobility between the two countries. The meeting addressed increasing air connectivity and creating joint tourism routes.

Ersoy pointed out the rise in tourism, stating that the number of visitors from Uzbekistan to Turkey approached 650,000 in 2025, and exceeded 406,000 in the first seven months of 2026.

Publishing and Cultural Events

Attending the presentation of the Uzbek translation of the work titled 'The Intellectual World of Maturidi' held at the Alisher Navoi Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, Ersoy emphasized the importance of cultural interaction.

Stating that translation support has been provided to 4,832 works in 101 countries through the TEDA Program, Minister Ersoy noted that the goal is to deepen cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of publishing.

Planned Contacts and Memorandums

As part of his Tashkent program, Minister Ersoy is expected to visit the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and hold bilateral meetings with the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov.

Another significant part of the visit includes plans to attend the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the General Directorate of Fine Arts and the Uzbekistan Philharmonic Orchestra.
