The IMM Center for Republican History Studies, which houses the personal archive of over 103,000 works belonging to the late historian Prof. Dr. Zafer Toprak in the historical Metrohan restored by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has entered service with a ceremony held.

New Center in Historical Metrohan

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has brought to life a new center that will make significant contributions to the history of the Republic research. Restored by IMM Heritage, the historical Metrohan building opened its doors as a new culture and research space.

Wide Participation Opening Ceremony

Protocol members and academics attended the opening ceremony of the center, which was established on the second floor of the historical IETT General Directorate Building Metrohan in Beyoğlu Tünel. The late historian's family and municipal bureaucrats took part in the opening.

Rich Collection Exceeding One Hundred Thousand

In the Zafer Toprak Archive, alongside tens of thousands of books and periodicals, there are photographs, documents, theses, posters, postcards, and film reels. A total of 103,649 works in the collection are presented for the access of researchers.

Working Areas and Special Room

The center serves in a 250-square-meter area with a working capacity of ninety people. Furthermore, Zafer Toprak's personal belongings are preserved in a special area designed identically to his study room.
