Sinopale 10 Begins: Artworks to Be Produced Together with the Local Population

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the 10th International Sinop Biennial is opening its doors with an imece (collective cooperation) model where artists will produce their works together with local artisans and volunteers before the exhibition.

The International Sinop Biennial, Anatolia's first biennial, is preparing to meet art enthusiasts for its 10th edition in its 20th year, running from September 2 to November 15, 2026.

Biennial Dates and Production Model

Sinopale – International Sinop Biennial, Anatolia's first biennial, is preparing to meet visitors with its 10th edition in its 20th year. Entitled "Reason Walks on Land, Intuition at Sea," Sinopale 10 will take place from September 2 to November 15, 2026, with art production beginning before the exhibition opening.

Participating Artists and Curatorial Structure

Bringing together approximately 25 artists from 12 countries in Sinop, the biennial will feature artists producing their works starting September 2 alongside local artisans, communities, and volunteers in the city. Sinopale 10 is co-curated by Deniz Kırkalı, Mariam Natroshvili, Marina Fokidis, and the biennial's founder, Melih Görgün.

Main Exhibition and Event Venues

The main exhibition featuring the works created during this process will open on September 25 at the Sinop Military Officers' Club Building. Parallel to the exhibition, performances, film screenings, workshops, and public events will be held at the Hal Sinop Meeting Center, the Sinop Sabahattin Ali Cultural Center, and the Sinop Chamber of Architects Building.

Source of Inspiration and Meaning of the Title

Inspired by the words of a fisherman from Sinop, the title of Sinopale 10 focuses on the importance of solidarity, joint production, and local forms of knowledge during periods of uncertainty. All programs of the event will be free of charge and can be visited without registration.
