The 15th Beyoğlu Second-Hand Book Festival Begins at the Old French Orphanage
Featuring rare works and literary events, the festival will host book lovers for nine days.
One of Istanbul's traditional gatherings, the 15th Beyoğlu Second-Hand Book Festival, opened its doors with a ceremony held in the garden of the Old French Orphanage.
The Beginning and Opening Ceremony of the Festival
Organized for the fifteenth time this year by the Beyoğlu Municipality, the Second-Hand Book Festival met with book lovers in the garden of the Old French Orphanage.
The opening ceremony was attended by Beyoğlu Deputy Mayor Sefer Karaahmetoğlu, IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, and Association of Second-Hand Booksellers President Emin Nedret İşli.
Events and Talks
Hosted by Başak İkiz, the event began with Emin Nedret İşli's talk titled “Cadde-i Kebir” (Grand Avenue).
As part of the program, a musical performance titled “The Sound of the Santur in Beyoğlu” was performed by Sedat Anar, Damla Anar, and Selahattin Anar.
Visitor Information and Duration
Throughout the nine-day festival, rare book exhibitions, exciting second-hand book auctions, and nostalgic musical performances will continue to take place.
Presenting events focused on literature, history, and urban culture, this cultural gathering will host visitors until Sunday, September 27.
