The Fourth European Cinema Days Met with Izmir Cinema Enthusiasts
Bringing productions from different European countries to cinema enthusiasts free of charge, the event attracted intense interest from art lovers in Izmir.
Realized in cooperation with ESIAI, Izmir EU Information Center, and the EU Delegation to Turkey, the 4th European Cinema Days met with cinema enthusiasts hosted by the French Cultural Center, screening 16 films from 22 countries free of charge.
Event Details
Organized in cooperation with the Aegean Industrialists and Business People Association, the Izmir EU Information Center, and the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, the 4th European Cinema Days brought films from various European countries together with cinema enthusiasts in Izmir.
Held between September 30 and October 4, hosted by the Izmir French Cultural Center, sixteen films from twenty-two countries were screened completely free of charge during the event.
Opening Reception
The opening reception of the European Cinema Days was enthusiastically held in the garden of the Izmir French Cultural Center with the participation of the Embassy of Estonia.
Making the opening speech of the event, ESIAI Board of Directors Chairman Sibel Zorlu stated that the association has hosted the Izmir EU Information Center for thirty years.
Bridge of Culture and Art
Sibel Zorlu emphasized that they are the only voluntary non-governmental organization undertaking this duty among the eighteen information centers in Turkey and stated that they evaluate the European Union beyond economic relations.
Expressing that culture and art play a critical role in building strong bridges between societies, Zorlu emphasized shared values.
Messages from Diplomatic Figures
Tiia Treier, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Estonia to Turkey, gave a speech drawing attention to the universal power of cinema in bringing different societies closer together.
Stanislas Pierret, Director of the Izmir French Cultural Center, expressed their great satisfaction in hosting the European Cinema Days.
Rich Film Selection
Within the scope of the event, many original productions from Greece, France, Estonia, Sweden, Italy, Lithuania, and other European countries met with the audience.
A rich selection of sixteen films in the genres of comedy, drama, documentary, and animation was presented to the appreciation of the people of Izmir.
