Theater Festival to Take Stage with International and Local Performances

Brought to life under the curation of Mehmet Birkiye, the festival is preparing to meet audiences with a broad selection consisting of six international and 11 local performances.

Featured International Productions of the Festival

The opening of the festival, curated by Mehmet Birkiye, will be made with "Lacrima" by Caroline Guiela Nguyen, which examines a chain of labor stretching from Paris to Mumbai.

Among the productions meeting the audience in the international selection is Marah Haj Hussein's play "Language is not the problem", which addresses the intergenerational transformation of the mother tongue.

Local Productions and Historical Venues

Within the scope of the program, the play "And Fire Consumes Us", written by Murat Gülsoy and directed by Mehmet Birkiye, will be staged in Bakırköy.

In addition, "A Dowry Agreement", which focuses on a 129-year-old historical dowry document, will meet audiences at the Yeniköy Panayia Church.

Art and Literature Themed Performances

Productions such as "Farewell Ritual", which tells the story of a deaf-born man's farewell to his father, and the war-themed "Requiem" will be presented to theater enthusiasts.

The literary classic "Anna K", written by Suzie Miller, and "A Doll's House", staged with puppet storytelling, are also included in the program.

Dance Performances and Closing

The project "Wind Tree", realized by Fernando Melo with MDTistanbul dancers, will take place at the AKM Theater Hall.

The play titled "The Picture of Dorian Gray", directed by Mehmet Birkiye, will be staged as the closing performance of the festival.
