Romanian authorities received a report that the general cargo ship Royad Mammadov was struck by an unmanned aerial vehicle in the Black Sea, causing a fire to break out approximately 20 nautical miles off the Romanian coast.

Following the report, a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched in the region. As a result of the operation, it was officially reported that the ship's captain and one crew member lost their lives, while 11 crew members were rescued.
Ship's Route and Cargo
It was determined that the ship, whose crew consists of Indian nationals and Azerbaijani Turks, was carrying wheat from Ukraine's Port of Izmail to Italy. Following the incident, it was learned that the ship did not sink and preparations were underway to tow it to the Port of Midia.

In a statement issued by the Palmali Group of Companies, it was confirmed that the vessel was subjected to a drone attack while underway. The statement emphasized that every kind of support would be provided to the families of the deceased sailors and that the process was being monitored in coordination with the relevant authorities.
