174 Kilograms of Drugs Seized at Edirne's İpsala and Hamzabeyli Customs
In two separate operations conducted by the Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams at Edirne border gates, a massive amount of illegal drugs was confiscated.
In two operations carried out by the Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams at the İpsala and Hamzabeyli Customs Gates in Edirne, approximately 175 kilograms of illegal substances were seized.
Search at İpsala Customs Gate
Teams from the Edirne İpsala Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate referred a suspicious vehicle entering Turkey to the X-ray scanning system as part of risk analysis studies.
During a detailed search conducted with the participation of narcotic detector dogs BETA and AXEL, 147 kilograms and 85 grams of skunk cannabis packed in vacuumed bags were found in the tractor cabin of the vehicle.
Cocaine Operation at the Hamzabeyli Border
A TIR truck entering the Hamzabeyli Customs Area was also deemed risky by the teams and directed to X-ray scanning, with narcotic dog ANTİ participating in the search.
During detailed inspections in the area where the dog reacted, a total of 27 kilograms and 180 grams of cocaine wrapped in stretch bags in 24 packages were seized.
Multifaceted Investigations Continue
Following the successful operations at the İpsala and Hamzabeyli Customs Gates, a total of over 174 kilograms of seized drugs were confiscated.
It was reported that the judicial processes regarding these smuggling incidents are ongoing under the coordination of the İpsala Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
