182.6 Million Liras in Administrative Sanctions in Stationery Sector Inspections
Thousands of companies and products were inspected in audits conducted by the Ministry of Trade before the academic term.
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat shared the results of the stationery sector inspections carried out across the country ahead of the 2026-2027 academic year. As a result of the examinations, millions of liras in administrative sanctions were imposed on tens of thousands of companies.
Scope and Purpose of Inspections
The Ministry of Trade intensified inspection activities nationwide to ensure that students and parents have access to safe products. The efforts were carried out to protect consumers' economic interests and establish market order.
Conducted to prevent any grievances for students and parents, the inspections took place during the period covering August and the first days of September, when back-to-school shopping is at its peak.
Number of Companies and Products Inspected
During the month of August and the first 10 days of September, price tag and market surveillance activities were meticulously carried out. A total of 33,182 companies underwent inspection during this process.
During the field studies, millions of products on the market were examined one by one, and a total of 5,952,000 products were included in the inspection process.
Administrative Sanctions Imposed
As a result of the inspections, a total of 182,559,000 Turkish Liras in administrative sanctions were imposed on businesses where non-compliance with regulations was detected.
These penalties issued by Ministry teams demonstrated the determination to ensure market discipline and prevent unfair commercial practices.
Regulatory Statement from Minister Bolat
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat emphasized that no regulatory violations are tolerated when it comes to sensitive products concerning children's health and safety.
It was stated that stationery products were inspected with great meticulousness regarding price tags and product safety during this critical period when back-to-school shopping intensifies.
Inspections to Continue Throughout the Year
Minister Bolat announced that the inspections would not be limited to the beginning of the new academic year, and that controls targeting the stationery sector will continue resolutely throughout the year.
It was announced to the public that consumer rights will be safeguarded and the effective fight against unfair commercial practices will continue uninterrupted.
